  1. I would like to know this as well.  Screen size wouldn't bother me, since I would be docking it for most of the time.  I'm far from doing any intense surfacing, or multi-axis work.

then you should be fine but still don't expect the world

  2. Depends on tye area, in California you would need to double that to get a top notch guy IMHO.

Wonderful high cost of living of Califrornia.. I was speaking in terms of Ohio sense I'm familiar with wages.

Cincy K- I say go for it, Looking for Shop Owner Material that doesn't own a shop basically. If I  may ask what is your role there?

  3. Anything that's reasonable. Likely some sort of base whether it be hourly or salary and then a quarterly bonus based on some sort of metric. Profit, on time delivery, machine up time, internal project completion, quality. All metrics to be considered. In the end it's les about the money and more about the right person. Looking for someone to be as close to a partner in the business without owning a percentage.

I get that but you only $23/hr then you probably won't get much in terms of a programmer/lead man/manger/engineer  that's what it sound like to me you want.  You're talking easily a 90K -100K salary unless you give that person a percentage.

  4. I have the operation number automatically posted in a comment in the NC file and I also have it set to a macro variable (#750).  This way if something isn't right at the machine the operator can check what operation is currently running (via the macro variables on the machine) and write up a quick change request form with the exact operation number and the issue.

TEACH ME YOUR WAY I NEED THIS!

that's what i hear so an so tool sucks.. which part Idk these holes I think..... We are using a .250 drill to drill about 30 different holes and holes!

  5. Logitech- M500 nice weight just enough buttons and corded. I hate wireless using wireless mice

Keyboard- Logitech K800 (batteries last while awhile and it charges with micro usb cable)

Home- Same Mouse but Razer BlackWidow Ultimate

Surface Pro 3- M510 Wireless but I dont use it 8+ hours a day

  6. Fanuc has trochoidal machining.

Providing you load a mastercam file into it....lol

What's with all this on-machine programming?

    Not very cost-effective.

    /tin hat off

    :D

Because some stuff donesn't require mastercam.. the operator or foreman can quickly program a job.. fixtures.. quick easy job that comes though don't have to bother a programmer that is working on something else... endless things

  7. Yeah, if you're looking for actual tuning/diagnostic info/whatever, there's other programs for that.

This one is only for laptops that use the Intel/Nvidia combo video cards, that tech called "Optimus" uses the intel for light-weight work like web surfing, excel, word, etc and then will kick up the Nvidia when it's time to do 3d work.   In theory.  I've had my laptop for a few years now (dell precision M6700) and I had some trouble with the earlier drivers where it wasn't using the correct graphics card even when I specifically said to, and it drove me nuts trying to figure out what was using which card until I found out about that.

They do this for heat and battery life.  If I don't have any 3d program open, I can get almost 7 hours out of my laptop, but if I open any 3d program, it'll be maybe 2.5.  That's how much juice the Quadro uses.

Its not only the video card that kills the battery but processor too... you're using it more heavy.
