First tool ran fine. Nothing has been touched.

Fadal vmc 8030
This is a new one for us.
Heard a cutter snap and when I looked the spindle was running backwards.
Now when I run the program it runs counter clockwise.
If I go to MDI. Type M3 the spindle runs counterclockwise with no speed control.
Type m4 it spins clockwise with speed control.
How can the machine switch M3 and m4?

I was thinking of a different problem I had years ago.
Wanted tool inspection at approx. One hour but only retract when the cutter is off the part.

What version of mc did this start?

They've got a youtube video showing the vise being machined

Thankfully I got switched back to hourly In Hopes that I would show up on weekends and holidays. Guess what I don't lol.he is begging to be taken to the labor board.
he will lose
I have no problem putting in the hours needed, but when the boss refuse to try and get things running efficiently Iam not coming in to pick up his slack.

So, he basically refuses to stay in business? I wouldn't last more than a week at a place like that. It would eat at my soul, like a cancer of the spirit.
Story time. ... bosses are my aunt and uncle, if she let's him say he's boss. They make 400k a year personally. So that argument about how they are still in business is out of the window for me to argue. Trust me I wonder everyday how this all pans out,are scrap rate is high, we pretty much have one customer, goodrich, which has red tagged us cuz of horrible delivery time and consistent issues with misinterpreted features on parts. Our spindles run maybe 70% of the 10 hour work day. Boss refuses to let me run multiple parts on a setup, even after I proved out how I could save 26 hours on a 500 piece order.instead he wants to us to come in on the weekend cuz we are salary.
Other than that, I'm happy with my job.
I get an above average salary ,401k and full medical for my family.
But is it wrong for me to want to do a better, more productive job?

What's your beer? Your boss let's you drink at work? Lol. I may be able to atop by tomorrow around 430I just got a batch of 7 flute 1/2 duramills.

Boss refuses to buy carbide endmills. Been buying these cheap $12 1/2 inch endmills. So far this week I've scraped $1000 in parts and have to remake a fixture due to this killer deal on endmills. They are breaking in the holder at the set screw. So instead of just snapping off they break but stay in the holder long enough to destroy everything.
Mondayest Wednesday ever

It is a great toolpath, but you have to have a 5 Axis seat so I was not thinking it would be good to say. Thanks for bringing it up.
Haha I was thinking the same thing. Ron loves him some morph between two curves. Wish I had multi axis license so I could see for myself.

Finish parallel
Contour
Pocket
Thsee are the most used toolpaths at my job.

Simple trig math? Thought maybe using dynamic xform, but that didn't work.

Create text and stick it on its own level. Save it so that level is active upon start up.

And being a member of emc gives me the access to that experience to draw from. Thanks

I love it ron. Wish I can bite the bullet and find other shops ti work in. Hard with 2 young kids, wife, and mortgage
-
That's impressive

Those machines are sweet ron. I've never seen one.
I've searched a few websites for those machines. Looks like they use em for slotting keyways and such. What else are they practical for.
BTW this job has gone away. The cost was to high so they are going to spend the money to have it molded

Owner looks at me like I'm unreasonable. I'm just sick of having to work 60 70 hours a week for something that should take 40 hours max (on our machines) just by being efficient and organized
-
Could be worse, we are mainly an all fadal vmc shop 7 of them. With Um..."special" operators. No exaggeration, 3 of the 5 operators will take on average 1 to 3 hours to set up a job. Nothing difficult at all.. indicate a vice or 2 in straight, load a fixture, sweep in or pick up x and y with an edge finder, set tool lengths. And wait for me or another guy to go thru and check it all.
Absolutely pathetic.

ive been waiting all day for your input ron. Do you have any link to a setup like that? ThanksGet an old school Arbor style milling machine. Setup the blades to cut them all on one pass. Might take 1 hour a part, but you could cut them all in one pass to depth and not worry about deflection. That was the last new machine one company I worked for got. 1965 Machine is mint condition was going to put all the CNC Machines to shame. Hate to say it, but for a part like this it very well could.

It was before. They said it was too heavy and expensive.
M3 and m4 reversed ?
