  1. I wrote a reply to this forum

    http://www.emastercam.com/board/topic/66927-data-server-ftp-questions/

But wanted to start a new one too.

I've got a Makino V55 with the Pro3 control.  It has a data server on it.  I've configured PC as I think it should be and no luck.  The data server puts up a message"incorrect login or password"

I've tried to change passwords and login info on both sides to no avail.  I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.  I've added exceptions in windows firewall and disabled the firewall.  Nothing.

I can ping the machine from the CMD prompt on the PC and it communicates there with a 2ms response time.  I was asked by the FANUC tech on the phone if I'd tried to ping the computer from the machine.  I don't know how.  He couldn't tell me.  I don't see an option for it anywhere.

I've tried formatting the HDD.  then added a program out of the control memory for a transfer attempt.  Still same error.

    Any ideas?

    Dataserver.

    a) Press soft key [Check]

    Press soft key [Format]

    c) Press soft key [Exec]-you will be asked ”Hard Disk Format?”.

(at this point you can still back out.)

    d) Press [Exec] again. All files on the hard disk will be erased.

    3) DataServer setting screen-1

    This is host computer information

    a) Use up and down arrow keys to highlight IP address field.

Input a number in the format 0.0.0.0 the number is

unimportant as long as it follows the correct format and

matches the IP address of the Ethernet communications

software in the host computer. We are currently using

129.1.0.7. After typing in the number press the [input] key

Arrow down to “USER”. This is the host computer name. We

use DATSERVE . Type in -press [input].

    c) Arrow down to “Password”. Enter the same way as above.

Currently we are not using any password. This field is

    blank.

    d) Arrow down to “Host directory”. This is the directory and

path in the host computer. The path must be exactly as in

the host computer. We have created a directory called

DATSERVE on the “C” drive. This field reads “/DATSERVE”.

    e) After all fields have been input. Press the [set] softkey. You

have to press the set key or none of the information will be

    saved.

    3) Data server setting screen-2. This is dataserver information.

    a) From setting screen-1. Press the page down button to

    display setting screen-2.

Highlight “MAC address”-This is a number printed on a seal

found on the face of the DataServer module inside the

control cabinet. This address consists of 12 alphanumeric

letters. Type in the address and press [input].

    c) Arrow down to “IP address”-This number must also be in the

format 0.0.0.0. This number must be unique to each machine

so that the network can identify individual machines. we

    are using 129.1.0.5.

    d) Arrow down to mask address. Input 255.255.0.0

    e) Again, press the [set] soft key to save all info.

    4) Setting up software in host computer.

Note: This information is provided so that Mori engineers may

set up their own computers and have some idea how the

software works when assisting customers. However, Mori

Seiki is not responsible for setting up or making the

connections for customers’ networks. They should obtain

the services of a network administrator for this service.

We are using “LAN workplace 5” by NOVELL for our communications software.

    a) Once the software is installed, open the configuration menu.

You are only concerned with “ADAPTER” and “TCP/IP”.

    Open ADAPTER

Here you must know the brand name of the Ethernet

    communications card you are using.

    c) Click on the arrow to open the list of brand names.

Click on the one you are using. All other fields should be

automatically set once you choose a card.

    d) Open TCP/IP/

    Under “addressing”

“Load LAN WP TCP/IP” should be on.

    “ BOOTP” should be off.

Enter the IP address (same as IP address in setting screen-1)

    129.1.0.7

    Subnet mask-blank

    Domain mask-blank

DNS IP address (same as setting screen-2)

    1st 129.1.0.5

    2nd blank

    3rd blank

    Routing

    1st blank

    2nd blank

    3rd blank

    e) Click OK and save all settings

This should be all the configuration you need to do.

    5) Opening the connection

    a) Click on IP resolver

    Click on ping

“Responded” should appear in the blank field within a few

seconds. if it does not, the connection is no good.

    c) Close IP resolver

    d) Click on “FTP SERVER”

It will look like nothing is happening for 60 seconds or

more. During this time the computer is making the

connection to the DataServer. One way to check if it is

through, is to click “ file” on the upper tool bar. If it is

still working on the connection, nothing will happen.

When it is finished, the file menu will appear. The computer

is now connected to the DataServer.

    6) Downloading a file from the computer to the DataServer.

    a) Place the file you wish to load in the datserve directory

of the host computer. This file must be in the format Oxxxx. Ex. O0001

Place the machine control in EDIT mode

    c) Press program hard key

    7) Uploading from machine to computer

    a) Type in file to send

    Press [Put]- file is uploaded

    8) Downloading a program from DataServer to machine

    memory.

Note: Machine memory must be sufficient to hold the

program being loaded from the dataserver.

I've tried Filezilla and Windows 7 built in FTP client and am still getting incorrect username or password 530 error at the control.  It's a Makino V55 with the PRO3 (16) Fanuc control.  I've tried changing usernames  and passwords on both ends and still nothing.  can't get or put.  Ideas?  Also, is there any way to blank out the memory on the Data server board?  Is is possible that I have multiple passwords together?  it won't let you see the password once you enter one and leave the screen.  it's always blank when I come back to screen-1.
