  1. I had this same thing happen last Wednesday and it cleared it self up. Today i am having the same problem on another computer. I would love the answer!! It seems to effect all versions. I have 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2021 and they all did it at first. now 2018 is working but the others are not.

  2. Mastercam 2017

    Does anybody have a problem with losing the default machine when converting an .igs or .X_T or .STP? I open mastercam and the default machine load's into the tool path manager fine (Start option set to Mill not design BTW). But then I open a .X_T file and the machine disappears. I can select my machine and keep programming but why did I lose it in the first place?

  3. Hey, I just got a new computer at work, Supposedly our new High end of what we are going to buy. It doesn't seem too bad but I have noticed some serious lag when I select for a dynamic rotation graphics view. The selection point seems to lag as far as trying to find a point to select, the little icons that say I have an endpoint or midpoint, etc. I'm not sure what I can do to help that. The only thing that seems to work is less entities showing on the screen. And it seems to be worse in X9 than it is in 2017. Below are my computer specs:

    HP Z240 workstation

    Core I7 3.4 Ghz

    16 GB Ram

    Nvidia K2200 4GB video

    450GB Solid state Hard Drive

    There used to be a was to turn off Graphics acceleration years ago, is that still a thing?

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks

  4. I think I got it. Yeah!!!! I suck at programming, tried to understand it but I guess English is all I know! I copied (I think) a purge VB script, Thanks to whom ever wrote that! I know it is simple but it took me a while to get what it was doing. Anybody interested this is what I used.

    Const DEF_GIVE_ME_EVERYTHING = -1

    ' -- Start Script

    Call Main()

    ' ////////////////////

    ' Sub Declaration

    ' ////////////////////

    Sub Main()

    Dim bRet

    ' This selects all "visible" entities ****(Find all Named Levels)

    SelectAll

    ' Run through the database looking for selected entities

    bRet = StartDBSearch(mc_selected, DEF_GIVE_ME_EVERYTHING)

    If bRet Then

    Do

    ' Change the level on each "selected" entity that we find.

      Call SetLevelName(GetEntityLevel(), "")

      bRet = NextDBSearch

      Loop While bRet

    End If

    UnselectAll

    End Sub

  5. Sorry Roger, I didn't realize anyone had responded. Yes. I used to be able to import a file and open level manager and select a level by an object. Then I could rename only the objects I care about then show only levels that are named. Now be default all levels that import containing an object are named all ready. And the level set name doesn't matter to me. ( they are blank)

    I can open an assembly sometimes containing over 500 parts each on its own level with out a level name pre assigned I can select the detail I want to see, find out what level they are on and name that level. then show only named levels in the level manager and it will narrow down the list to only the select few I am interested in. I hope I am describing this so it can be understood.

    Thanks!

    Chad

  6. Maybe this has been covered but could not find anything. Just starting to use X9 more constantly and I am finding this a problem for me. When importing a file here (name.X_T) the level names populate with (filename (1), Filename (2), Filename (3)) and so on. I used to get no level names and would prefer it that way. This way I can weed out the useful parts I want by going into the level manager use the select tool to grab a solid then it goes back to the level manager with the level that solid is on and I can name it appropriately. After a few are done I can turn to change the list to by named only and I can see which levels are important to me. I was thinking I could write a VB Script to delete them all upon opening the file then I can go about my business as usual. unfortunately I suck at programming, computer programming that is. Any help?

    Please,

    Chad

  7. Here are screen shots of the errors i have been getting. I don't even have to be doing work in toolmanager, it happens when its just open on the side. Any Ideas?

    I get the SHELL error all the time also. I can't even get anywhere without it coming up, happens as soon as i try to open a tool.

    Is there anything we can give you guys at CNC that might help get rid of this?

  8. Hey, I haven't been here in a long time. Alot has changed. For know i could use some techno help please. We have several EDM machines that use the OLD 3.5" 720 kb formating. Yes i said 720 kb not 1.44mb most people are familiar to. Well the drives are starting to die and tehy seem to be hard to find replacements for. Does anyone know why it has to be a 720kb drive? Will a 1.44Mb drive work in it's place? or does the machine need to be configured specially for the 1.44Mb. Anyone with computer hardware knowledle please chim in and offer your two cents.

    Thanks!!

  9. Yes another stupid communications question. We replaced a pc(XP) that we used to download from mastercam legacy commnicator. Worked fine. Well they put a new pc in its place and i can't get the thing to send a file. Same cables same parameters in mastercam. Same version even. Has anyone seen or have any ideas what i could look for?

    I can recieve files from the machine, Ohh, it's a prototrac btw, but i can't send a file to the machine. :wallbash:

    Thanks,

    Chad

  10. It is done in one operation and is only one chain - i think i can rule out differant pplanes right?

    Yes it seemd to be trying to cut with the bottom of the insert. And yes roughing and finishing with the same toolpath. The groove is a o-ring groove around the diameter. Radii at the top and bottom of the groove with straight walls.

    Thanks,

    Chad

  11. I am new to lathe, ben using mill longer than i can remember. Does anyone know why i would get a spindle reversal during a groove cycle? I don't think it is the post as it is in the posted NCI file as well. The cycle seems to be roughing the groove then goes down one side fine but when finishing the other side the spindle stops and reverses then travels down the other side wall. Any suggestions are worth it! please give me time to check back i don't have much internet access where i work. Thank You!

    Ohh- X4 is the version.

  12. I am interested in hearing your ideas about M-4. I have a new job cutting some, managment thinks i will be doing it hard Rc 60-64. I have had ho problem with up up Rc 56 materials but havn't had much jobs requiring anything harder. Unless i am mistaking, M-4 is difficult to even grind once hardened. I thought it was a stable material though which i might be able to cut the part finished soft and grind outsides to the cut interior dimensions. What are your thoughts or expiriences with this material please?

  13. I'm not much help in the programming aspect but i have a idea maybe worth thinking about. How about if you create a line looking from the front view at a height you want to cut at. Then project a curve on the solid from that line. Now you have 2D geometry that can be analyzed. Sorry if this doesn't help i didn't know if you thought of it or not.

  14. Roger has my idea. i do want to output code base on the text held within scomm. I can output the comment but the comment was being output without paranthesis. I did find a work around using a pcomment2 postblock and resetting scomm:

    pcomment # Comments

    pcomment2

    toolcommno = scan (str1, scomm_holder)

    pcomment2 # secondary created to read scomm

    scomm = str4 + scomm + str5

    scomm_holder = scomm

    str4 & 5 are = open and close paranthesis

    From there i used scan to search for the string i want and capture the following number. Thanks for the help!!

  15. Help i couldn't find enough documentation to check these out. I am trying to read the operation comment and output some code depending on a certain condition. I was using scomm but it seems when i refer to it, it outputs to the post and wipes out scomm. currently i was using

    pcomment

    test = scan (str1, scomm)

    to capture a number after a cerain string. The problem it outputs the string when doing this and the string didn't get put inside of paranthesis for the control. How can i stop the processing of scomm or does anyone have a example i can look at for scomm0?

    Thanks

  16. I have made toolpaths in the my library which have the geometry stored with them. Now when i need to put a number on something i bring in the toolpath from library and reposition the numbers in the order i need them where i need them. I typically only have a single or double digit cavity ID though so that makes it pretty simple for me to do this. For long part numbers i still make letters and give it a tool path.

  17. Is anyone using a Integrex 200 (or any other integrex for that matter i guess)? Do you like it? and are you using the mazatrol language or mastercam to program it? I'm considering the machine and would like to hear some opinions.
