  1. Another (arguably more scientific) approach would be to go to the manufacturer's website and look up chip load. You can calculate speeds and feeds using the formulas on the website. If you spin 24k rpm and go 100ipm, you will burn up router bits in no time. Here is one such website http://www.vortextool.com/images/chipLoadChart.pdf
