Since you want to use a .SET to generate Setup info, remind me and I'll show you how to launch it automatically in 'ppost$', so it just does a new sheet, every time the file is posted out.

🙋‍♂️ I would like to know how to do this!

Did you know you can "call a Post" from within a Post Processor? I've done this to automatically run the "NCI Data currently being Posted", using a .SET File, which forces a new Setup Sheet to be generated at the time of posting. (So the operator can compare Setup/Tool Sheets to the NC File.)

    I'd love to know how!

I have used launch()  to run the .NC file through a post-post?-processor .exe utility I made 😁

    Is it a similar call?

  3. Let me rephrase, since I did just shotgun questions. I love open source, and love making things for anyone to use! I'm pretty bad at communication and talking though. I am curious what other people think. I would love to see other peoples contributions or use this as a launch pad for their own cool idea.

My next feature 💡 is a TOC linking to each toolpath block, either on the left or right, make it a variable...

  4. So I like digging into things to see what I could do to enhance or create something new out what is available. I like the MILL.SET setupsheets over ActiveReports and so I got thinking.... If I am writing a text file.... why not write some html tags with that information!

Does anyone think this is cool? worth working on more? completely spaghetti post? (I have just been self teaching from the Post Manuals)

Can I distribute .SET files? Can I put this on github?

I am kind of obsessed with HTML and Javascript 😁

  5. Hello all,

So I just wanted to throw this out here, to see if it bothers anyone else, or if it is just me....

We probably all have widescreen monitors nowadays or at lease high resolution which would support what I want (WISH!!) Mastercam would do. I was really, really hoping they would add it in 2017, but they didn't

Anyways, enough crying.... Does this bother anyone else??

When the toolpath parameters dialog box is open, it's resizeable.... yay.... nope!

Why, why, why Mastercam... when I go to resize it, you just stretch the tree of parameters to have tons of whitespace??

I want to have the vertical bar, separating the tree, to stay where it is. The tools description box should expand! I feel like that is logical, instead of having a horizontal scroll bar.  :(

  6. I'm sorry if it's not cool to hijack this old thread, but it's the most relevant holder related thread that I found.

Does anyone know if it is possible to add Manufacturer's to the holder list? I have Haimer shrinkfit holders and Haimer is not an option in the dropdown when using the tool manager holder wizard

  7. Hello everyone,

I hope that this isn't just me, or that I am missing a simple setting, but I feel like I am going crazy. Every time I create a primitive block (which I do often for raw stock representation) the primitive dialog defaults to surfaces. I have never wanted surfaces and I swear it used to default to solid... Is there a way to default it to solids?

Also, similar issue with certain transforms. I often use the "fit" transform, to center a part in my material, and I never want it to copy. I want it to default to move, but every time, I have to click the radio button over...

Mastercam gurus, please tell me there is a fix for this! Thanks in advance

  8. Hello everyone,

So I was going to comment in this thread http://www.emastercam.com/board/topic/60341-mpmaster-g10-output/ but realizing how old it is, I was wondering if there is any up-to-date information regarding the topic. I have tried using the different blocks in my post, but can't seem to capture any of the numbers from the planes and get them to output in the NC file. I currently use "Manual Toolpath" and just write in the G10 lines for the program. I would love it if the info could be pulled from the planes I've created.

I am programming for a 4 axis horizontal, using an already customized version of MPFAN.

I don't know much about post editing, but I am pretty good at reverse engineering and sort of figuring it out. I do have programming background (java, php, javascript, etc.) but I can't seem to get the XYZ out of the NCI (I can see them there in the debugger!)

Sidenote... Are there resources out there for what all the different post things mean? For instance, why do some vars have *var and some are var? or what does var$ mean? is !var like other languages, meaning not var? what about nwadrs(), or rpar(), or rparsngl()?

Thank you in advance for any help and guidance.

  9. I didn't know that. Earlier reply has been edited.

Sorry Shaggy. I hope you have a backup somewhere. :(

No worries, JParis saved me with the dropbox upload. Anything to avoid dragging IT into this, having to reinstall mastercam

  10. I tried deleting the defaults files, but they were not regenerated, I just got a error message about the files not being found.

Side note, could it have anything to do with our mastercam user directory, and shared directories mapped to network drives?

I was trying to setup our 4 different workstations to be able to share machine defs, tool libraries, and workspace configs easily so any programmer could load their custom toolbar layouts and such, and program at any station for any machine

Everything was working great until one guy had to save over something and break the drill toolpath.

Aha! I think I figured it out because I missed what JParis said. I did set the checkboxes, like in the video, but I didn't realize that only changing the defaults doesn't affect the current machine def. Once I added another machine, that was the same, and deleted the first out of the toolpath manager, it seems to be working now.

I now be creating defaults and operations files for each machine so no errant programmer can nuke the shared defaults files.

Anyways, I will go fix our other workstations and sure this was what cured the problem.

    THANK YOU!!

  12. I went in a checked that box from the video, about using the tools step, peck and coolant, but when picking different drill paths, the cycle still stays the same. If I change pull a tap from the library, it stays on Drill/Counterbore. I manually switch it to Tap Cycle, then, when creating another drill path, I pull in a reamer, now the reamer uses Tap Cycle instead of Fine Bore. It's like it's modal now

    :help:

  13. Hello everyone,

I tried contacting our local reseller about this problem, but they told me to completely wipe and reinstall mastercam to fix this, and with IT involved, it could take forever. There has to be an easier way to fix this...

One of our programmers was trying to set sane defaults for himself for the Drill toolpath (tip comp, clearance planes, etc.) and managed to save it in a way which it now no longer pulls the type of cycle from the tool.

When pulling a tap from the library, it no longer switches to Tap Cycle, but stays on Drill/Counterbore. Same with drills that have peck cycles defined, it just stays on Drill/Counterbore and doesn't switch to Peck Cycle or Chip Break.

I am our shop's resident mastercam expert, but I am at a loss. Can anyone help me out? I would really appreciate the guidance to fix the potentially tap/drill breaking issue.
