  1. We fitted a erowa 80 station robot to load all our jobs for the machine. Erowa's software handles the work schedule and stores all the offsets for the jobs. If a job needs priority you can change the schedule with no problems. We use this for all types of one offs and production work. Since in installed this we have found it to be great in reducing labour hours attending the machine and allowing the operator to program and run other machines in the workshop. Also the machine is running all night and at weekends with no operator. www.erowa.com http://www.erowa.com/en/products-solutions...Automation.html
  2. We have a prototrak cnc control here. It runs beside our machinnig centres and we find its a great machine for simple parts with not many too changes. Faster to program and set up. We have it on the floor now for about 5 years now and have never had a serious problem with it. Only a interlock had to be replaced. We have started to program it with mastercam but I don't have a bullet proof post for it yet. Every once in a while extra moves pop into the program which has scrapped parts.
  3. Hi Jay, I have just checked that and my machine def is the imperial version. Where would I get the metric one. Do I need to contact my reseller for it or is it available as a download. Thanks for your help.
  4. Hi, I have a prototrak sm controller on one of my mills. I am trying to get mastercam going on it and I have a problem in that my code is outputting in imperial rather than metric. My drawing is in metric and the change over is happening when I go to post the code. Could anyone point me in the right direction to stop the outputting in imperial. Thanks
  5. I would recommened Mazak, DMG mills and Gildmeister lathes. I worked on a Makak machine in my last place of emloyment and found that the comany reping them had a good service. A service guy would be out within 24Hrs but an Expensive machine to buy. I now work on a DMG 64V linear machine. Service is good but the service guys have to come over from the UK which adds costs to us. But i would not recommened the siemens controller as it has limited us in some areas. The two machines are good for heavy machining. A problem in Ireland is that a lot of machines that are sold here have to come through the Uk as there is no main agents here only selling reps. Thus when a machine goes down and you need a service you have to get someone over, pay for their flights and accomadation which is not cheap.
  6. When I wire with no core I always use a step over of half the wire diameter and have had no problems at all.
  7. quote: Q. Does anyone have a post for a [insert machine or control name here]? A. Ask this question as your first message here and you won't necessarily like the responses you receive. Look to your reseller to supply you with the proper post for your machine, or quote for the work that needs to be done. If you have something and are looking for improvements, it's a reasonable request. Maybe tell us why the post you have needs improvement. Perhaps try to participate a bit on the Forum before you go asking for something. Not unlike Habitat for Humanity, we value Sweat Equity here. Quid pro quo, Clarice. You may also want to let everyone know your company name so that your Hotmail or Yahoo email account doesn't give everyone the impression that you aren't a licensed Mastercam user.

  11. In Ireland i'm paying €0.90 per litre for Diesel. Thats $3.65 per Gallon.
  12. I would agreee with Toolfab and Thad. We machine a lot of A2 and D2 and would raher machine A2 any day. It is easy to machine and grind after Heat treatment compared with D2 which does give us a lot of touble if the lads leave too much to grind off after heat treatment. Here is a link to download info on A2 from Uddeholm's Steel web site A2 info Uddeholm call A2 Rigor as their trade name [ 03-06-2003, 05:02 AM: Message edited by: Brendan O' Regan ]
  13. MasterCam used to alway lock up on me also so i turned off screen saver. I also turned off the following items in power management - Turn off system standby. Turn off monitor. Turn off hard disk. After turning off all these i had no problems any more and MasterCam runs fine. Brendan. [ 02-25-2003, 04:00 AM: Message edited by: Brendan O' Regan ]
