  1. Hello to all, How can I connect two solids into one?
  2. solved! in the pocketing cycle, selected center point of the pre-drilled hole as the first chain, then the diameter of the pocket hole as second chain, turned off entry motion, .5" flat endmill plunges in to the center of the hole in increments of .100 set by depth cuts.
  3. Hi I have pre-drilled hole with .625" drill .5" deep, now I need to tell my .5" end mill to go exactly into the center of the hole and start pocketing true spiral method. By looking at simulation end mill is not going exactly into the center of the pre-drilled hole. How do I tell the machine to go in the center?
  4. Hi Mookie, great idea I tried it but diagonal lines will not snap to the wire frame of the stock. Maybe because I am using HLE. What I just did is to the left of the stock view in stock setup are 3 yellow fields for x, y and z (stock origin in view coordinates) I selected top of the stock with an arrow and changed Z to +.5" since stock is .5" thick, looks OK. to me now. Not sure if that is correct ? Thank you for trying to help!
  5. Hi all, I apologize for an easy questions, but I am very new to mastercam, I am doing some exercises and need to select the center of the bottom of the stock to be xo, y0, z0. I can move the little black arrow to almost any corner but not sure how to select the bottom. Stock size is 4.5" x 6" x .5" Thank you all in advance
  6. Thank you for reply, but I must pre-drill before machining in the exercise
  7. Hi to all, if material is .5" thick T6061 aluminum and if I need to pre-drill this 1.0175 diameter hole before pocketing it to the -.5" with an endmill, what size spot drill, drill and endmill you would use and what type of pocketing cycle you would select to go best with the pre drilled hole. Thank you all in advance
  8. Thank you! I just play with simulation at home I can't post but can simulate skipped operation.
  9. Hi all again, In mastercam 2017, if I have for an example 5 tool path operations is it possible to disable 1 out of 5 yellow folders so only 4 operations are completed. At this moment I can only run all 5, or only one operation.
  10. Thank you all, - contour, comp. off, lead in/out off works!
  11. it is flat shape 5 X 6x .5 letters are .25" will try contour - thx
  12. Hi all, I am using Mastercam 2017 HLE. if I want to engrave "3100" using 1/4 " center drill what tool path I need to select? and what cut parameters cycle I need to select? Thank you all in advance
  13. Hello to all, In our last class professor mentioned that we need to start drawing fixtures for our parts. He really never showed to us how to do it but he did mention that fixture can be made on different level. So far we are only doing 2D drawings of parts for which we do stock setup, facing, spot drilling, drilling, contouring and all that looks nice on simulation. But how do I draw fixture for lets say 5 pt. star that can fit in 3" x 3" x .250"H stock and lets say I have .250 diameter hole in the center where I will have 1/4x20 socket head bolt that will attach to the fixture under it with a washer in between to keep the part separated from fixture? Lets say fixture is 2"x2"x.05" H Do I draw fixture in 3D on level 2 and 2D drawing on level 1? we did not learn 3D drawings so I am not sure how he expects us to do it. Both fixture and part need to be visible during simulation. If it is hard to explain if you can you can draw simple 2" diameter circle with .250 diameter hole in the center and the part is .250 in height. Fixture under it can be 1.5 x 1.5 x 0.5H and small washer in between the part and fixture and you can e-mail to me [email protected] so I can learn from your example. Thank you all in advance.
  14. Yes Sir. HLE version - that is what I am thinking that the problem is. It does not even allow you to draw two center lines to intersect, it will automatically convert one of the center lines into doted line Thank you all for great suggestions. This is great place for help
  15. Thank you for reply, but I am not sure what to look for in tc planes, I am new to mastercam.
  16. Hi all, strange problem here: I know that from point A to point B length is 1.25 I can also verify it with "analyze distance" option. However, when I do drafting dims for the same points I get number 1.30 or for the distance that should be 1.85 I get 1.80. Anyone has any ideas?
  17. Hello to all, I am new to mastercam and my current version is mastercam 2017 I am little confused about the parameters for (top of stock) it is possible that I did not copy them correctly in class as professor was explaining to us. Lets say we have 4 operations: 1. Facing 2. Spot drilling 3. Drilling 4. Contour In the 1st operation for facing - top of stock in linking parameters is set to .01 and depth 0.0 . I understand this as stock is raised by .01 in +Z direction and facing tool will go down to z0 and will clean .01 from stock. Is this correct? in the 2nd operation for spot drilling - top of stock is 0.0 and depth -.135 (I said great I understand this top of stock 0.0 because the 1st facing operation removed .01 and stock is now lower by that amount) Is this correct? In the 3rd operation confusion started - top of stock is .01 and depth is -.5 (why is stock still .01 above 0 if facing removed 0.01 in the first operation?) in the 4th operation- top of stock is .01 and depth is -.125 Now I am totally confused - do I have to keep track of how much stock is removed in first operation then adjust the "top of the stock" parameter for second operation to be less by the amount of stock removed in the first operation and continue to do the same adjustments if any stuck was removed in second operation for all other operations, or mastercam will do this automatically for me? Is there a way to measure machined part in simulation mode to see if the completed part is of correct dimensions? Thank you all in advance!
