  1. I know in a previous version (X5 maybe?)I had the ability to force Mastercam2019 to startup in Mill 2D, instead of 3D for certain computers.

We have a nethasp and limited seats of 3D available.

One computer is primarily used  by a guy who only needs 2D so I am trying to figure out how to get his to startup in 2D so we have 3D available for the users on other computers who need it.

    Thanks

  2. Try saving the file you are trying to merge as a .step or .x_t file.

Then merge that file into your other .mcx-5 file.

This has worked for me several times.

This happens to me as well. I also have to save the file I want to merge as an .x_t file first, then merge it into a .MCX-5 file

  3. Can anyone help me out? X4 (and X2 for me as well) does not stay within the tool containment geometry I have selected, causing gouges. In X2, after the first couple, I went back to using Surface Finish Contour since the tool always stays within the selected boundary. I just tried it in X4 (wanted to use the "Rest Material" option within the path) and sure enough, the tool goes outside of the containment boundary that caused another effin gouge. Is there something I'm missing?

    thanks...

  4. You can also open task manager, goto processes tab, right click mastercam.exe, set affinity, and uncheck cpu1, leaving cpu0 checked. With most programs you have to do this every time you start them, but with my mastercam, after the first time it has always defaulted to only using CPU0. I tend to select CPU1 for most other processes so mastercam has a fairly dedicated processor and all other programs use CPU1.

    hope this helps smile.gif

  5. I use many levels but I use the hide function quite a bit too. I will change certain geometry to different colours that I know I'll need later so I can show only geo of a certain colour when I need to. The hide function simplifies things for me when chaining for pockets , contours, and boundaries. As well as when I create/modify surfaces off of some specific geometry on a single level etc.

  6. I too am having problems. We installed Mastercam Direct on the designers box and added it in yadda yadda. When he saves all he can save as, is a .SFB file. This file is not recognized by mastercam. What am I doing wrong here?

  7. I've fiddled with it and now have all toolbars on two rows, just in a different order. I have had to put the aforementioned toolbars at the end(far right) of each row and it works. Saved under 2 different names and reopened and it's all good. I'll just have to get used to where the toolbars are now on the screen. At least I have the largest screen possible again.

It still seems to me that those 2 toolbars act longer than they appear to be...

Thanks for the help John cheers.gif

  8. No luck. I've just changed my resolution to the max possible (1600x1200) from 1280x1024 just to see if there was any other toolbars hidden but there were none. I've been able to get the two toolbars, mentioned above, on the same row once with the higher resolution but with a huge empty space in between them. It almost seems like the toolbars think they are a lot longer than they really are???

I just restarted mastercam again and now get:

The instruction at "0x10ab4d03" referenced memory at "0x00000008". The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the program

  9. Yes I mean "beside" I suppose. Screen resolution is still the same as before I updated to MR1. I've now got it down to 3 rows. But there is still room to have all toolbars on two rows, if you follow what I'm trying to type here smile.gif

I cannot park the toolbar with the ALL, ONLY, "window/single/etc select" behind(beside) the toolbar with the X,Y,Z coordinates...

  10. I knew I should have kept the SP1 update1 version I was using...

Man, I've had to redo the custom toolbars I had. Reloading and restarting didn't help so now I've wasted over an hour or so getting the toolbars and right-click menu dialed to where I like it. Now I cannot line up my custom toolbars behind one another. When I drag one behind another, it creates a whole new empty toolbar row below the last toolbar. Now I have 4 or 5 rows with 1 or 2 toolbars on each row, and a bunch of empty space behind them.

With SP1 I had all the toolbars I needed on two rows so I had a nice large screen for working on my geo.

Any hints as to how to get the toolbars parked behind each other again?.

    TIA

  11. I got a new box mid october and have only installed X on it. I tried using 9 on another computer a few weeks back to check something and man was I slow on it. Amazing how much easier/quicker X is once I tweaked the interface(right click menu rules!) to my liking.
