Hello, can someone tell me if there is a way to hide all the tool path lines that show up after you have created tool paths. It would be nice to be able to hide all that and toggle back and forth between your original drawing and the tool path lines.

Yeah it was a permissions issue with the network. Still cant explain why it went back to factory settings but im back running agian.

This is totally weird, I customized my shortcut keys on the new X8 and it has been working like it should for a couple weeks and then all the sudden it goes back to factory settings. I try to go and re set them and the tab to apply the changes is un highlighted making it impossible to make the changes. What happened?

the I.T. guy is working on it now I will post the results as I get them.

V9....reminiscent of the folks running SmartCAM 10 YEARS AFTER IT'S DEMISE and the folks still running V6.13a when V9 was out.
I get not updating for the sake of updating but there are SO many reasons to not use old software, especially software THAT old. V9 was out when I was still teaching.
Its a matter of finance, Our shop is a small operation and have to be careful with the budget.

Why not keeping your old PC for Mastercam use only and getting a new one for everything else
I share files with engineering so i need to be on the network.

Due to security reasons I probably will be removed from the network having an un updateable browser and op system is the main reason for the upgrade to windows 7 throughout the company. My system would be the only one plugged into the network with potential security issues. Plus as it is now its tough to navigate the internet with such an outdated browser really wish the new op system was compatible with v9.

Thanks for all the helpful information. Looks like i may just be stuck with my old machine. The company is upgrading computers throughout the entire company now that Xp is no longer windows supported. It looks as though i will just be disconnected from the network.

Thank you for the replies. Would the main conflict be a 64 bit system running a 32 bit program? or would there be more issues?

I
I am currently using mc9 on windows 2000 operating system. We will soon be upgrading with new computers with windows 7 and wanted to try and find out if there were any compatibility issues , and if so what are the remedies?

Thank you. I never even thought to look in the machine control, duh.

Does anyone know how to program the coolant positions using mc9 ? the machimne control has five positions, I just cant find it in the mc programming options.

Steve I used the method you described and it worked perfectly. The only problem I had was I did not realize you had to set a work offset for each rotation, And on my dry run on the machine I kept getting an over travel alarm. It took me a few minutes to figure out what was happening. I just repeated the same offsets 8 times and it worked just like I wanted it to.

thanks for the help I will give these suggestions a try.

The part I need to make will be indexing. Flat spots with drilled holes at the center of the flat spots. Kind of a stop sign shape (in the side view) I just can't figure out how to even get started

I am not sure how to create the geometry for using a rotary fourth axis. Do I create my part in the top plane as you would a conventional xy part? and how do you create a tool path, is it also in the top plane? Any help would be much appreciated. I am using a haas vf-3 with haas control.
