  1. I don't recall having any trouble..

what sort of issues did you have?

I had to change names in the Registry and then change them back again one installed. Certain file data paths were no being saved until we realized there was another setting which had to be changed, etc etc. Just little things but very annoying for what should have been a straight forward install.

Did MCfWS x6 install over the top of MCfSW x5 or was it a separate stand alone install.

  2. Thanks Ryan, I got exactly the same response from MC tech support this morning  . I had been trying to resolve this issue for the last week and have been sending emails back and forth the MC tech support daily .

I do not use MC or MCfSW myself much, I just set it up for my staff etc, but I wonder why there are so many areas within MC to set the same file paths etc. For example the "Tool library" can be set in the mcamx.config file, in machine definition manager under "general machine parameters", and the machine group properties. I would have thought the config file would have been the master ??.

Do MC have any documentation that explains all these relationships and how they work together with each other.

  3. Try changing it in your machine definition, general machine parameters, tool library tab.

Tried that as well, it seems no matter what I do it defaults back to the C drive, and not the G drive (the server). Were is MCfSW reading these setting from during startup, it's either NOT reading all the settings in the "mcamxm.config file" or something is over riding these settings during startup.

  4. I am also having issues installing X2 onto a PC running window 7. If I try and run X2 a little window pops up and says: "Cannot open HASP driver"

If I upgrade my NetHasp driver to Ver 5.2 will I also need to get new update "code file". I am reluctant to do any of this until I have all the answers, as I don’t want to cause problems for the other X2/PC’s running windows XP on the network.

  5. Quick question, in the "surface rough contour" parameters is their a "multi pass" feature like in a 2D contour toolpath. ????

I have a part that does not a a uniform amount to come off a internal 3D contour surface, and taking it in one cut is going to be to much to remove.

  6. Has anyone had much to do with saving and opening STL files with X2.

I was hoping to use X2, to generate STL files for use on a 3d printer.

However when I open a STL file in X2 all the surfaces have disappeared, and there a lines going in every direction. confused.gif

  7. I have started getting some error messages in the last week when I load X2. Is there an easy way to attach a picture in this message box to help explain the errors, or do I need to do it thru the FTP upload section. headscratch.gif

  8. For the last 6 years we have been using Camline WinDNC without any problems. Have just upgrade to a new PC (same platform) and for some reason the DNC software just wont startup. I have contacted the reseller but no news as yet, to what the problem is. We don't really need anything as fancy as Camline WinDNC. If it all ends going belly up, can you suggest a simple (cut down) DNC software package. We only use it on 2 machines and don't any of the other stuff Camline WinDNC offers.

  9. X2 mill

    I am not a regular user of MasterCam anymore, but I am trying to setup some common parameters for my staff who do use it. Is it possible to have the coolant command set to "ON" by default with any tool or operation? I edited all the tools by going through the;

    Tool manager

    Edit tool

    Parameters

    Coolant

    Flood

And set them all to “ON” but when create a Toolpath and selected a tool from the library the coolant it still off ?????

I could understand V9, you only had a couple of places to change most parameters but in X2 there are parameter pages and windows all over the place.

  10. In X2 from the machine definition I have set to where the home position is in XY&Z, and in the control definition I have set the default home position to “Get from the Machine Definition”. When I create a Toolpath and look at the home position it is shown as “User defined” and is at some other coordinates, and I have no idea were X2 is getting these coordinates from.

I can select the “from machine” tab and the coordinates I set in the machine definition are input, but why aren’t these input as the default from the very start.

  11. I have configured X2 so that upon startup, it loads a default template drawing and machine type/definition.

Can you configure X2 so that if you select a "New" file from the "File" drop down menu it loads these same defaults. cheers.gif

  12. Hey,

I did a search for VBS scripts and came up with nothing on levels, I only have 4 files in the VB folder and none of them have anything to do with levels. Once I find a script on levels how do I configure x2 to load it.

  13. Back again!

Just when I thought it was save to go back into the water. X2 is still shutting down without any warning, but not nearly as often. I think our IT guys have put this problem in, the too hard basket.

Things I changed that made some improvement to the problem.

The NCI file is saves locally.

Removed the spaces from directory names.

Changed "File Open Dialog style" from Mastercam X to Windows Standard.

Where to from here, not to sure however I am going to load X2 onto a few other PC and see how it goes.
