Override NCI output name to 8.3 naming format
Guest posted a topic in Post Processor Development Forum
I'm working on a post for a Machine dealer that carries a unique German lathe called Weiler. http://www.weiler.de...controlled.html It's very popular in the Oil patch because it is literally the easiest machine to rethread with. They were very smart and included a rotary encoder on the spindle so you can pick up the start angle easily. You can pick up lead and be re-cutting in less than a minute. It's basically a flat bed engine lathe with a conversational CNC control that can read DIN(ISO) G-Code programs. The hardware is SIEMENS and it's basically an 840D control that's customized to Weiler's unique W.O.P. (Workshop Oriented Programming) implementation. The main limitation for DIN(ISO) G-code programs is that you can really only run the core basic SIEMENS G-Code. G33 is the only threading code supported as WeIler has rewritten the standard SIEMENS Cycle97. Threading with a runout requires 3 consecutive G33 lines so you get thread, runout and then escape. You need this for every pass so all threading in MC is done with 'Long-Hand'. No other SIEMENS cycles are supported. I've got everything working properly for the post and test-cut on the machine with one last issue. Because of Weiler's system that runs on top of the SIEMENS, all DIN(ISO) G-Code programs need to be in a 8.3 naming format with the extension *.DIN in order to be loaded. I've got the extension set without issue through the control file but I need to truncate/override the NCI output name to fit the format. I've tried overriding snameext$ in the psetup section but it doesn't seem to work. The File Save dialogue always populates with the file name from the NCI set in the Op. I'm not sure at what point I need to actually call psetup to manipulate the output file name. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
