pre-call next tool

Recommended Posts

What post are you using?

Typically, the following line is in the post:

stagetool : 1 #0 = Do not pre-stage tools, 1 = Stage tools

Set to 0, you will get no pre-call. Set to 1 (as above), and you will get the pre-call.

As newbeeee states, back up your post first. Then, give it a go :). It is a very simple change.

When I first started with Mastercam, back in the early nineties (ugh), I was scared of going anywhere near a post. Once I did though, I got hooked, and now regularly modify and tweak posts (it is a case of having to for me).

Why in the post? Because it has always worked for me in the post. The machine/control def is fine for some things, but it isn't all its cracked up to be... yet...

'jus sayin' :)

for stuff like that it's rock solid

The ONLY issue with the control/machine def is they really are of no use.......but the changes that can be made within them, work fine

Hang on - is this gunna make me a fanboi????

I understand the principle and we sometimes prog a (mill) part using a protrak 2ax machine/control def/post and make the part.

Then it comes to production and we'll change the control def and change things as required and re-post the prog for the vmc's.

It does work well for doing this.

That said, they take a huge amount of getting set-up and head around, so for 99% of the time a 'post switch' may have been better (as in simpler).

There have been a number of instances in the past, where making a change in the machine/control def made no difference to the posted code. But, making the change in the post made it work. So, I don't believe there is ONLY :) one issue.

Most likely a change in the local copy and not the dis copy so it was never perm, or a change in the disc copy but the local copy was never updated

In the end, almost 100% of the time, user error :p

Nope it wasn't user error, it was a change in the disk copy, and then updated. I *NEVER* edit the local copy, and I always update before posting. I do know what I'm doing ... :)

User error for other things though LOL
