Solids Loop

Chaining solids has a few more steps in it than just chaining wireframe. You need to watch for the prompts in the upper left hand region of your screen and the lower left hand corner of your screen.

The way to do it is like this;

Toolpaths, Contour, Solids. Now you have some settings to deal with. Set Loop to Y, set Edges to Y and Faces to N. If you are going to do a partial contour, then set partial to Y. These settings are pretty self explanatory. Pick your edge, make sure it is the correct contour, there are usually 2 possibilities. When the chain is good, select, Done. Now it's going to prompt for moving the start point. If it is acceptable, select Done, if it is not, select forward/back step until it is where/how you would like it. Select Done. Now you are back to the first menu with the loop settings, etc.... If the chain is going the wrong direction, you can select Reverse. Once the direction is to your liking, select done. Now you can either select another chain or you can select done again and you will be taken to the Contour Toolpath Parameter Page.

Select your tool, adjust your settings, etc.... go to the contour parameters page, go to your lead in/lead out, make sure it is active and click OK. That's it. I'm running Version 8.1.1 and it works nicely.

Hope that helped.
