chaining for solids

I have a chain I want to extrude, but get an error message that "chain must be closed". The chain works for a contour tool path, appears to be a closed chain when I analyze it. What am I missing??? (Version 8.1, level 2, with solids option). Thanks much!

Ray, when you analyze your chain, take note where you start the chain from. does the arrow show up at the end point of the first entity that you picked ?. if it does, try starting the chain from a different location. If the arrow stops somewhere else on the contour, zoom in on it. you will probably find a small gap, or overlapping entities. you may also have a duplicate entity somewhere on the chain.

or to check go to "screen" "endpoints" this will put points at the end of each enity to see were it is broken now check your ends from there.

The contour works because of the chaining tolerance in the chaining options dialog (.0002 in. by default). The solids require a MUCH more stringent tolerance to be correct (around .00001 if memory serves me correct).
