monarch vmc 4020

does any one have history with this machine?fanuc 18I controller.we are going to purchase one with pallet changer.just curious if any one has any input on the machines capabilities,and reliability.

IMO, Monarch has the best service/support you could ask for... We have 4 older Monarchs (VMC75) in here. They have their share of problems (age related), but still good for light milling and drilling. I would do anything to have it equipped with a Fanuc control. The Dynapath still has me affraid to this day (especialy 5c where Z movements are reversed).

We have 2 VMC's by Monarch Cortland. a 4020 with a Valenite probe and a 3018 with a Renishaw Probe and pallet changer. THey are both from the mid 1980's both with GE Mark Century 2000 controllers. THese are the basis of my experience with Monarch.

WE have allways had excellent service and the Machines were state of the art when built and still giving fine service today, albiet a little slow when compared to new stuff. I still prefer thta "old" controller over the FAdal CNC 88 HS controller.

We have 26 vmc Monarchs, all have fanuc controls, but we did have a few with the GE 2000, they are very acurate, but in todays standards, as far as speed they're dinosars. I don't have any experience with the 4020 but I know the monarch are pretty reliable.
