Mazak Vortex issues

Good morning all,

We are doing some 5 axis flow paths in the bottom of a deep pocket and are getting some gouges that we cannot identify with backplot or verify. We have tried it using powermill and mastercam with the same result so we are now assuming that it is a guage length issue. The strange thing is that if we are using flat end slot/end mills then there is no problem blending a tapered wall with a flat floor. When using ballnose tools it gouges the floor. The guage length has been checked and is ok.

Has anyone else had any similar problems? Any help appreciated.

Bruce
