I just wanted to say something about mcam design. Note that I am NOT a designer, but I've been learning mechanical desktop (acad), and know that it is MUCH more powerful than mastercam on the design side. BUT, if I'm gonna design a part that has only one component, I'm still gonna use Mcam, cuz I can draw in in MUCH faster. I also like mcam's dimensioning better...

That's not fair. You're comparing apples to oranges. MDT and SW are different, that's why ACAD came out with Inventor, because they are not in the same class.

I've been working with SW lately. Very good stuff, but sometimes, I just want to draw a line! Splines are a nightmare, and other issues.

Of course, it's dimension driven feature is great, and it handles assemblies well.

James is right, this is apples and oranges. But if Mastercam would implement some dimension driven technology and basic associativity, I'd prefer it over other CAD systems. There's a lot of power, flexibility, and depth of functionality there that some CAD company's could learn from.

I've said for some time that the design was about 90% there and have hoped that there would be further development to compete as a stand alone CAD product.

Analyze, Pick the entity, set Edit to Y. There's your parametrics! Granted, it's not as easy as the strictly CAD software packages but hey, it works.

Thats real sad, ACAD is not good when you compare it against anything, other than a previous version of ACAD.

Do your self a favour ditch ACAD and go to CADKEY, it may nbot be quite as good as the likes of SW, but its certainly the best apple thats in the same box as ACAD!
