In v9 for a horizontal machine B-axis rotates about Y-axis. I would create the part with the machined face in the front view. Is this the same in V10? I am trying to edit the post in v10 for a horizontal machining center. The MD for a Mill 4-Axis HMC shows B-axis rotate about Z+. It works but outputs C as the rotary axis. I need B as the rotary axis. This was defined in the post in v9, is it not defined in the MD now in v10? I thought i understood the MD setup but I am not sure.

I read another post and know I beleave the rotary axis orientation is still coming from the post? The MD will set this in the future, is this correct? I am getting a little confused.

You already have a post working in v9 correct?, update it using updatepost.dll, it'll create the MD/CD for you.

But yes you will need to assign B to the cabs,cinc & indx_out fmt's if your gonna edit it in

If you are using the new Generic Fanuc 4X Mill.pst, open it and change the "C" to "B" in the following line:

 

srot_z "C" #Label applied to rotary axis movement - rotating about Z axis - used when use_md_rot_label = no

I changed the MD around and got it to output a "B" without changing the post. In the MD I set up the machine as Table group = X-axis, B-axis and table, under the spindle group is Z-axis, Y-axis and spinle. Is this going to be a problem? Or should I start again and change the post leaving the MD as it was and changing the post as Paul suggested?
