  1. quote: Surely the smart thing CNC systems "could and should" have done was to ask users what they wanted. This is basic marketing. Do a search, this was covered in a post about 20 pages long a while back. Everybody wanted this and they wanted that and so on. So guess what, it couldnt be done with the old interface so they made the changes and here we are today. You got the changes you've been asking for but you want it with an outdated interface & that cant be done.....everybody wants something but isnt willing to learn the new stuff to get it so they pitch a bitch right away and diss on it, how long you expect them to keep building on the old interface or even offering updates to it.....how many people are still running windows 98?, still bitching to Microsoft you want them to offer updates to that?
  2. quote: I believe that MasterCAM is trying to cater to the 5 axis users and forgetting about the "little" guys who run "regular" CNC machines, don't believe me..??? then what the heck is that "machine definition" all about...??????? Well if your running v9 so effectivly then you have a post i assume....uptext it like the manual walks you thru doing and you'll have a machinecontrol definition for your machine quote: I am now insisting on classroom training since my tiome at work (and at home) is too valuable. Once again there it is. No training so with it comes the frustration. Seems lots of people just blame the software as soon as they cant figure something out when alot of the time its lack of training.
  3. quote: The only thing I have to say this is the most painfull transtion on software that we have ever been though. Way to many bugs in first release and subsequent releases. Maybe in time as our programmers become more familiar with the MX it will improve our productivity. Rightnow it is costing us time and money. Seems like every day a new problem arises. Hoping MR1 will solve some of our issues. Out of curiosity how many days were your guys trained on X?
  4. quote: Yes, I am a shop owner as well. But how does being an employee or a shop owner differ in the way people use X. From what I have seen 90% of the problems people have with X is user related. Getting a handle on the new way things are done. If you want to stay in the 80s with a DOS system, have at it. I for one as a SHOP OWNER refuse to be left behind. Its called investing in your future. M2C Exactly....well said, its kinda like the old fram commercial said "You can pay me know or you can me later". Best to keep up with times or you'll be outside looking in and spending lots more to become up to date
  5. quote: Well I am 32, and I love change. Every new version of windows I dove right in. Any new version of mastercam I dove right in. On x I only got to try out the demo they had to download. And I still fiddle with it. But by no means can you out do a competent programmer in 8 or 9. How can you just "fiddle with it" and assume its no better?....you've never been trained on it and have no idea how to use it yet so how can you make any assumption whether its better or worse? If you had to stand in front of a 5 axis machine and figure it out it'd be a piece of $hit too i bet. When people dont get trained on things there gonna strugle, softwares no different. I think the switch to the new interface was long overdue i think like anything else in life, were gonna see some people get left behind just like years ago when guys swore by there old manual machines when the NC's came along but hey thats the way it goes. Whats funny is you can do a search and go back thru some old posts and look all these features people wanted in mastercam and there not possible with the old interface, now that there possible with the new interface people wanna bitch, you just cant have it all, you gotta give some to take some, you get the features but you gotta do with this interface
  6. I see it all the time, people dont like change, no offense to anyone but especially older guys. People become creatures of habit, seems when it comes to change once you show them a few things & it unlocks some doors they've put up they go "Oh that is easier". People get defensive right away when theres change not offensive and take the bull by the horns
  7. And when theres change it doesnt mean things are worse
  8. quote: I can challenge anyone to compete against me with my custom interface for Ver9 against me with his custom clicky buttons and sketcher and all other whistles anytime . Ver X though has some nice features ,but still when I need to do work fast I use ver9 ,no time to play when you need to do work fast and good ! Where you located BuB ?
  9. quote: So my question to you is, why should I accept CNC Software's failure to improve the efficency of Mastercam when I have viable, if not better alternatives at my disposal? You still running win 3.11 too?.....Guaranteed X is faster, you wanna keep using your keyboard to run windows like in DOS too?. Your tring to say for example you can create a simple drawing faster by having to backup constantly to get to harizontal, vertical, polar and so on in 9 than have it in the ribbon bar in X, no way cant be faster in 9
  10. You already have a post working in v9 correct?, update it using updatepost.dll, it'll create the MD/CD for you. But yes you will need to assign B to the cabs, cinc & indx_out fmt's if your gonna edit it in
  11. Cimco....try renumbering with the new editor, must be an addon
  12. Select Create Line Endpoints, push in the tangent icon towards the right hand side of the ribbon bar
  13. Anyone looking for any work that can turn and mill or lathe with c axis?......e mail me if intrested
  14. Main menu,modify,break,draft/line,window the note,done
