Why is my toolpath processing so slow?

I have a pentium D 3.00 ghz with 1gb 533mhz ram. My toolpaths take way longer to process than they did in version 9. Is there someething I need to change?

Me too. 3.00ghz w/2gb 533 ram. I've had a couple of surface-rough-pocket paths that were sloooooow. But not always Like somethin else was stealing the ram.

i noticed my processor usage wont go over 50%, how about yours?

If you have hyper-threading I think that's all you'll ever see. It's kinda dividing you processor in half so when you see 50% it's really 100%

so i thought someone said that mcamx would take advantage of multi-threading. Does this mean I'll only run at half the speed of someone that has a regular 3 ghz p4?

We have dells in the shop and in engineering. You should always turn off the hyper threading when using mastercam or solidworks. It might work well when your running other types of programs, but not CAD/Cam stuff.

we dont have hyper-threading on the pentium d chip

I have a question about hyperthreading. I have turned it in in my DEll Dimension 4700 pentium 4 processor 530 with HT a while back. I'm using Mill9.1 SP2. The task manager shows around 50-54% usage when I am in mastercam. With hyperthreading off it shows 100%. Does this mean that the CPU is only using half of it's capacity and therefore taking twice as long to calculate toolpaths with it on?

When I first turned it on I added 1 more gig of ram to a total of 4 gig and a nvidia quadro fx 1400 video card at the same time so i am not sure how it really affects my performance.

 

After reading about the issue of temperature I used my infrared temperature senser that plugs into a Fluke meter and checked the temperature at the outlet of the exhaust fan. I was getting about 98 degrees F with mastercam off and Hyperthreading on. I turned hyperthreading off and I was getting about 108 degrees F.

 

My computer has been working fine lately so I probably shouldn't worrry about it, But I am curious aout how hyperthreading is affecting the toolpath calculations in Mastercam.

I also have V9 and that sam FX1300 graphic card and am having a lot of video issues is there a setting you changed that has helped you with this set up?

I am getting a message saying that Mcam V9 doesn;t support transparancy functions properly and it has been disabled have you ever sen this?

By "video issues" what do you mean?

 

The only other change that I made was to go into setup and set - HDD Accoustic Mode to "performance". (I don't really know what that is for but I thought that I would try it).

 

My video card is FX 1400. Idon,t know what the difference is betweeen the 1300 & 1400 but "Bulliness", a member of this forum can prababley explane the difference.

 

I have not seen anything about transparency functions.

I will open a file it will appear on the screen briefly then disappear. If I turn hardware acceleration off (which gives me a a conflict alarm with nvidia) I can open some files sometimes only 3D files though and if it is on full I can only open 2D files and if my file has both 2 and 3D I am getting nothing right now
