High Speed Horizontal No Fillet

I am trying to use the new high speed horizantal and don't want the cutter to slam into the corners. So I selected toolpath fillet and entered .050 rad.. It isn't showing it on the backplot. Am I not picking something or is this something someone else has noticed?

Does that mean that you're using an end mill that is smaller than .100 in Dia.? You need your corner radius to be bigger then the radius of your cutter in order to follow the boundary.

No, I'm using a 5mm ball tool. But, as I understand it, it should be applying this in relation to the tip not the perimeter of the tool. I did try increasing the rad. to .25 and it had no affect.

I just tried it in here. It worked the way it should in both X & V9 with both standard pocket & 2d contour toolpaths having a .25 radius and using a 5mm ball mill. The cutter rolled around corners like it should have. Is your toolpath associated with the geometry?

I'm trying to use it in the new high speed horizontal toolpath that came in MR1. Have you had a chance to play with these new toolpaths?

From what your describing I think that you want to use the "smoothing parameters" to keep your tool from banging into the corners. Toolpath fillet, from what I've read is for putting floor fillets where there are sharp corners

I believe your correct. But I am trying to machine a floor. I believe that is all horizontal will do.

That is what Horizontal Area is for. But if your trying to keep from banging into vertical corners smoothing will help. If your talking about banging into floor fillets, you can add a different stock amount to the wall than your using on the floor. that might help.

Yes, that is a good suggestion. But in this case there is a tangent radius so the side wall isn't the problem finish is my primary concern. The part is the cavity area of a mold. It is also hardened so any little whip of the cutter tends to leave a visual mark though it is usually not measurable. I'm just trying to save myself any bench time if I can.
