Check Surface in Surface Rough Pocket

No John, in surface rough pocket there is no option for check sufaces. If you really need to use them you'll need to use a different path.

Surface rough pocket is just that, a roughing routine, it does not assume there will be anything to stay away from. You could use a solid boundary to keep it away from something but not a check surface

If you are not using a boundary around the outside of your part you could create a boundary and on the parameters page click the tool containment to outside, it should remain outside of your boundary.

A better option, I think, is to model a feature around where you want to avoid and just add that as past of the cutting surfaces. I usually do this and move it to a different level. Then when I don't need to use it to stay away I just turn the level off. The rough paths still use it but for finishing you can work with the entire model
