Mitsubishi V5Cn-L with Meldas 600m question.

This question isn't for my sake but for the sake of our guy in the tooling shop. He has 2 Mitsubishi V5Cn-L with Meldas 600m machines and is try to get the machine to do a helical entry on a hst area roughing toolpath. The control puts out an alarm #PR0072 but when you go to the manual to look up the alarm, that # isn't there. The manual skips from PR0071 to PR0073 banghead.gif

Does anyone know if this machine/control supports helical moves? The code for the line the alarm is on is something like:

G3X **** Y***** Z***** R******

and thats it.Is there another G/M code that's misssing? Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't have the manuals in front of me, but try forcing a G40 prior to running the toolpath. Force the G40 in the program and not the MDI screen.

On a Meldas you could hit the arrow down key when the alarm happens and it will bring you to the line that has a problem. You could try forcing the G40 in there, or there may be another issue altogether.

Also make sure there is a line movement in the lead-in/lead-out.

Sorry, but our controls are Meldas 520. They do support helical moves, but it is an option;

Here is a sample;

G43H86Z.1

G1Z0.F25.

G41D86X-1.2147

G3X-1.2272Y1.9718I0.J-.0125

X-.4772Z-.0125I.375J0.

X-1.2272Z-.025I-.375J0.

etc....

Thanks Rob. I'll pass this on to our guy. I did a forum search on meldas and saw a few posts by you. Thought you might have some input. I'm not at all familiar with those machines as they are in our tooling dept and I'm in the model shop (stuck with a Fadal VMC4020 88hs....but it does what I need it to). Thanks again.
