Memory Allocation

Got the infamous "out of memory" error. Is there an allocation table as in V9?

 

2GB Ram

3.4GH Pentium D

FX 3400 Graphics card.

On the Toolpaths page in System Config, what is your Memory buffering percentage? How large of a toolpath were you creating?

Memory buffering is set to 50%. The toolpath is a 5 axis flow (doing a true 5 axis path), I am trying to change the cut control distance from .005 to .00035 to obtain a better finish. The toolpath size with the .005 setting is reported as 7187.6K.

I would think 50% would be enough with 2GB RAM.

Cranked it up to 75% still get the out of memory error.

May want to take a peek at your total system memory status. You may have a problem with something on your pc hogging and not releasing memory. Right click task bar. select Task manager, go to Performance tab.Look at the physical memory available.

I would look at this as a reference and reboot the cpu and start your toolpath once again.

Might want to delete your config file so mastercam can create a new one. It seemed to do the trick for me.

im sorry to say but as soon as you change your step along to less that .005 ..you are toast...your step over might survive at less than that but then you have to change your step along to .01 ...anything less and you will crash ...been there done that...even stripped my process trheads to 42 and still got the same error

Ahh well, I guess that we will just have to live with the finish that we have. Tried the re-boot had no affect.

I was having an out of memory allocation problem with 5-axis surface toolpath last week and cured it with following: alt-C, run tpconfig c-hook and make sure that Constant Z operations: use Fast Zcut Technology box is UNCHECKED--then try your toolpath again.
