I'm using Mill8 and usually draw in 2D. When hitting the F9 key I access the axis and origin crosshairs. What I don't understand is the value on the scale line. What I see is that it changes as you zoom-in and zoom-out but I don't see a useful purpose for this. I must be missing something. Can someone enlighten me to what is probably obvious.

The line you see is a visual scale reference. Any object you see on the screen that is visually the same length is in fact the length indicated above the reference indicator. It is there because there is no real reference of size on a computer screen. You can be zoomed up on a .005 dia. are and it can fill your whole screen.
