video issue?

I just purchased a new dell 9400 lap top. With a nvidia go 7800 with video 256 ram, 2.0 gig duo processor, 1 gig ram. The screen is freezing up while running mc9.1. help…

Will X be any better?

I run X on my NVidia Chipset HP Laptop and it performs VERY well.

 

V9 on the otherhand, is crash prone somewhat depending on what I'm doing.

it dosnt crash... the screen will lock up, say i change veiws from top to iso... it says its in iso but the geo is still in top... im thinking return thinking return the laptop?

Oh, I would not return the Laptop. Don;t run V9. It sucks compared to X. Whenever I have ot go back to V9 it takes me 25% longer to do stuff.

Contract for now. I have something brewing with a Factory Automation company - Robotics, Pallet Pools, ect...

 

My Card is a GeForce FX Go5200 128MB running 1440 x 900 Resolution & 32bit Color

that sounds like fun... ok then, my card should kick butt, i'll try X. i need to sooner or later. do you have the video acceleration turned all the way up?

I have full acceleration. Enable Write Combining is UNCHECKED, Refresh @ 60 Hz. Image settings are set to Quality, Anti-Aliasing settings are Application Controlled as well as Anisotropic filtering. Direct 3D is set for Best Image Quality, Oen GL Settings are default.

 

That's about it.

 

Yeah that should be fun. Pretty much right up my alley.
