Lathe Question

Recommended Posts

When I am boring a blind hole, how do I tell the Toolpath to start at the stock and not at the center of the hole.

I am getting lots of tool collisions because of the drill angle at the hole center which can be avoided by not boring from center (I drill 1.5" and need to bore to 2" + a big rad to the back).

Closest example I could think would be the bowl on Lord Stanely's Cup...

Thanks!

I define my insert drills having a 175. degree angle tip, then if you take your example of drilling a 2" hole with a 1.5" drill. I would draw the bore say 2" deep and then break the bottom of the bore at 1.5" then just chain to the end point of the 1.5 line. I might have to use reference points, for approach and retract lines. Then you could use a 1" B-Bar.
