Mastercam X

[VECTOR-65]

First. This shop utilizes two programs. Mastercam X and Gibbs. The question is, how to Migrate all the Gibbs programs over to Mastercam X?

 

Second. How does one Bring programs from Mastercam 7, 8, 9 to Mastercam X with out any losses?

 

I have little experience with these programs so therfore, I am in the learning stage.

You will have to install V9 to be able to convert those V7 files.

Yeah, your screwed on 7, but the rest can be opened up directly. Don't know about converting Gibbs files though.

I would think those Gibbs files are going to have to be reprogrammed.

 

You may be able to save the geometry out as an .igs file but you will likely have to tool path them.

I converted all my V7 to V9, then V9 to X

My question is if you have mastercam, why do you use gibbs?

Why do we have Gibbs...before my time both were used, now I am trying to set things right.

I don't think anyone has mentioned using a revers post for the Gibbs programs. It would probably take a combination of RP and coverting the GEO to one MCAM recognised. I think you will find most of the old files in Gibbs can be redone in MCAM faster than you can convert them to MCAM. Besides you probably know more now then you did when they were first programmed so you will probably want to do it differently anyway.

You can't "convert" toolpath files from Gibbs to MC. It requires reprogramming. You can however get the geometry if you have a converter in Gibbs. If the files is not very complex a simple IGES converter will suffice. I'm dealing with the same issue with ProE Manufacture so I feel ya!
