wire posting problem

since updating to X2mr1, when ever I post out a program I get this error in my posted file

"DIRECT WIRE PATH NOT SUPPORTED".

I'm sure its a switch I need to turn off in MC but I can't locate it.

I'll bet Roger Martin would know how to fix it or put you in the right direction.

I'm going to wait some before I upgrade.

oppiz, if you are doing 4 axis with splines, it will not allow direct 4 axis,only 4 axis taper.this may have nothing to do with what you are doing but that is the only time i have ever seen that error.

Just to let any interested parties know, we've found the cause of Oppiz's issue.

 

If you look in a PST that been updated for use the X (X2), you'll see a line (the first line) like this ->

 

[post_VERSION] #DO NOT MOVE OR ALTER THIS LINE# V11.00 E1 P0 T1175712340 M11.00 I0 X0.00

 

UpdatePST places this information in the PST.

Somehow, an important parameter in the line was set incorrectly.

*If UpdatePST is run with the correct post type information (Mill, Lathe, Wire, etc) supplied, we have never seen UpdatePST set this improperly.

 

Note the 'P0' in that line. That says "I'm a Mill post".

So X tries to run it as a Mill post ==> "problem".

After changing this to 'P3' (aka. Wire post), the NC output looks fine.
