Pre drill for plunge points

Hello all,

We just updated to version 9, and in the "whats new in v-9" it shows something called pre drill for plunge points. Can anyone tell me how to use it?

Jody,

First create a toolpath using Surface, Rough, Pocket. On Rough pocket parameters page, be sure to check "Align plunge entries for start holes".

After operation is created, right click in Operations Manager and select "Toolpaths", "Circle paths", "Drill start holes". You will see your pocketing operation listed. You have several options you can use (click on Help button for more info), basically just hit OK and your drilling operation is created using same size drill as your roughing endmill. Mastercam then places this operation before pocket op in the Op Manager.

This also works for 2D Pockets. Do spiral pockets with no plunge point specified. Use this function and it'll go back and find the collapse points for the pockets and drill them. Very sweet...
