I sent this QC earlier this year.

They do not support this type of insert or cutter yet.

The tool definition in a custom tool is used only for Backplot and Verify which will be different than what your machine actually cuts.

 

They do plan on being able to use this type of tool in future releases of MC. I think it was X3.

I'll check my emails at work tomorrow to clarify.

“Mastercam uses the tool parameters filled in on the first dialog tab page. Mastercam does not extract any information from the custom tool profile (geometry or file). In this case, the surface machining operations use the tool diameter (10) and tool corner radius (0) and use a flat end mill to calculate the toolpath. The custom tool profile is used only in backplot and verify.

 

We have an upcoming project to add a high speed (flash cutter) tool shape to Mastercam’s list of supported tool shapes. ”
