Solids gone Byebye

Hey all,

 

Lately, when I have been doing mill programming I have been losing my solids.

 

The specific solid is one that I create, not the model that I import. Typically I import a proE solid model and then draw the lathe part from it and revolve that lathe geom to make my stock. Set the stock in the stock options and it works...for a while. Then suddenly I go to verify and my stock is a big square and my solid stock is gone...?

 

Any one else having a problem with this?

I've been losing solids defined as stock in X2 MR2 when I edit or replace the Machine Def. in the Machine Group Properties.

BTW, I did email QC on 10/9 and have yet to get a response.

Yeah, I am running X2 MR2 as well, so, I don't know that saying 'Im glad to hear someone else has this problem' is a good thing....but at least I know I'm not crazy.

I've had the same problem. As stated, it seems to happen when the control def is changed or modified.

 

I just make a copy of my stock solid on a separate level. That way, if it does wipe it out, I still have a "back up".

Yep, me too. since I've switched to MR2 I've lost a couple of solids. thought I was losin' it. glad to see it's not just me.

I get this in Verify, I thought it was because of the defaults in my control. If I close the file then re-open, I have to go into the Verify options, and re-select my solid, all is well until next time. My solids aren't deleted, it is only in Verify for me.

If you define stock using a solid, the solid will be deleted when you change machines in the machine group properties dialog. This is a (now) known bug. It has already been indirectly addressed for X3 because of some other improvements made to the way stock, chuck and lathe centre components are handled when you change machines. If you are planning on changing machines and have defined your stock from a solid, make a backup copy of the solid first, as Mike@Apollo suggested.
