Machining elypse

Already asked in the past but can find the post, I have to machine an elipse and before I have to break it so it does a nice finish but don't remember the whole procedure ? can you help ?

You can usually get a good finish by tightening up the Linearization tolerance very tight or just use "Break many" to create arcs.

BTW,

 

You can filter to get the arcs on the Toolpath. IE: set linearization to .0001 and (Create arcs) Filter to .0005

You don't need a special post or anything. Make the contour toolpath and set the linearization tolerance to 0.0001. click the filter button and make sure make arcs is checked. Set tol to .001 or your minimum acceptable tol. Do NOT make it close to the linearization tol. Make sure the linearization tol is around 5X less than the filter tolerance.

 

The toolpath will be mostly arcs and very very smooth.
