Newbie Origin Question

Hi all, I'm a veteran MC wire operator and a newb MC mill operator smile.gif I'm confused on how to select the 0,0 corner on a part in mastercam V8. (2d die sections etc.) One guy told me to actually transfer the whole thing between points from the 0,0 corner to the system origin but that is a pain when I have the complete blueprint on screen and the file is 8mb. Is there a quicker way to just select the corner? Thanks.

Well yes there is.

but not easy to explain.

you have a option to create and save a new origin and veiw.

using Tplain & Cplain.

When you pick on Cplane for starts you will see my lower comment.

when you go to set them you will see at the top statment that reads

CONTRUCTION PLANE: PRESS FOR CONSTRUCTION ORIGIN

from here you start to pick up the new origin and save it as a new view.

Click on Cplane and use the "?" in the top bar to get more info on how this work.

Um, or you could just do your toolpath and when you are in the tool parameters, go into T/C plane

(bottom of the screen), check the tool plane box, and under the XYZ origin, click on "select", and pick where you want your xyz0 to be. And.....there you go!

Hi Jay, is that what you said???

Hope this helps!
