4th axis posting error??!!??

Ahoy! What exactly does:

"ERROR - SELECT MACHINE ACHIEVABLE TOOLPLANE WITH X-AXIS ALONG MACHINE X - SET AND REPOST" Mean?

As far as I can tell the post is set correctly for 4 axis and the MD is correct also. The toolpath is just a contour op on the back face of a part. The contour op for the front post fine? Geo is in the correct plane and everything looks OK. It must be something ridiculously obvious and right in front of me.

any ideas?

Bruce

OK,

Stand up,

point your right arm to the right, point your left arm straight ahead of you.

You're a WCS

Your right arm is X+

Your left arm is Y+

You head is Z+

now hold EVERYTHING in that exact position, turn around and face the other way. In relation, which direction does your X+ face now?

Rotate your TOP 180° for bottom, rotate THAT 90° for back.

Bruce,

I don't use them for anything, my Solidworks usage comes into play, I ignore everything beside Top, Right and Front.

I would like to see CNC Software adapt this usage of planes instead. From those 3 EVERYTHING else needed can be built, created, rotated. That would blunt a lot of the confusion about them and perhaps, just maybe perhaps make the WCS easier and more reliable to use.
