transfer post

Just got X3 today, what is the best way to transfer my X2 posts to X3? I have not done this before..

copy the files into the X3 installation.

The first time you use them you will be prompted to update.

i've been working on this off and on for a few days . . haven't had time to give it my full attention, and have fallen back to X2. i've read in the X3 installation documentation about some exclusions / special treatment for 5 axis posts. does the actual post require modification or does the update post utility take care of things? . . . or is there something else?

There should be no need to run a (working) X2 PST thru the UpdatePost utility to use it with X3. While it is true than most times there is a major version# change, you would need to - this is not true in the case of X2 -> X3.

If any of your posts are a mpmaster based post then you will need to update the parameter tables to get the correct output.

 

I created a utility that will scan and correct these issues in the post. It can be found in THIS THREAD

 

You can find details about the parameter tables that need corrected in mpmaster based posts in THIS THREAD

 

Again these are for mpmaster based post processors. If your posts were built from default posts that came with the install of Mastercam then thsi should not apply
