Post Variable Question

How can I output the value of a Variable so I know what it is holding in certain places of a post? I am trying to do some debugging.

When debugging posts, I used to always do this...

Add a postblock just before the postblock where the variable you are interested is used.

Something like this ->

"gcode$ = ", ~gcode$, e$

The key here is to precede the variable name with the '~' (tilde character). This special character tells the system to output the value in the variable without updating the prv_{variable$}.

Also, what is the proper format of an if, then statement in a post.

if (boolean expression),

code # only ONE line is executed because of the 'if'

if (boolean expression),

[

code # One or MORE lines (between the []) are executed because of the 'if'

code

]

Adding an 'else' clause works the same way

(Don't forget the ',' after the else, !)

if (boolean expression),

[

code # One or MORE lines (between the []) are executed because of the 'if'

code

]

else,

[

code

code

]
