We use HSK 32 tool holders on our router. The distance from the nose of the spindle (where the tool holder mates) to the top of the table is 15.1000". We simply measure the mounted tooling from the matting face of the holder to tool tip with a height guage and use g43 tool lengths. We then use a Z work offset of -15.1 + distance from top of table to top of part. All tooling for the next job is built, measured, and tagged while the current part is running. Then all the operator has to do is load the tooling in the magazines and input the tool offsets. Our set-up could not have costed more than 300 bucks, and it is safer than the touch off method, and easier on the tooling and the spindles.
