Slow to generate restmill toolpaths. Are there some settings to tweak?

You could try switching off "Display surface/plane intersections" from the Toolpaths page of System/Configuration. In Vista, the displaying of these lines is very slow in my experience and slows down the whole generation proceess.

 

I see that you cite Restmill in particular, but usually restmill has to scan the whole model first before working out where to machine and that will make the toolpath generation lines appear.
