Solidworks and Engraving

Just a question about engraving. I normally engrave parts with a 1/16" ballnose or small single point 90 degree engraving tool. Just aluminum, usually .005-.010 deep.

Problem: Engineers will just send me models/surfaces with plain text (usually a separate dxf) laid over top of it. When I engrave the part, the letters run together because letters in the part have a thickness, whereas letters on the computer screen do not.

Question: Does anyone know of an easy way to create a visual representation of this type of engraving in the Solidworks part model that would be quick and easy. If the engineers could preview how the text is actually going to be created, they could better design and place the text.

Thanks for any suggestions.
