Post Problem

I'm sort of new to the site and Mastercam so please bear with me.

We just upgraded from X2 to X4 and when I updated the post and ran a toolpath through the post processor it's not coming out in the proper format. I tried running the program on our Mitek that uses a Vickers/Acramtic controller and get an error when it tries to cut an arc or circle.

The Code that Mastercam used is not one our machine recoginizes. Upon looking back at older programs the G code that is output for an arc is totally different than what I am getting now.

EX:

G2 X-8.075 P.075 F30. = Doesn't Work

G2 X-8. Y.7266 P.0234 F25. =Works/X2 format

The post was a generic one that was modified some time ago for I think version 7 and updated and ran with versions 9, X, and X2 successfully. This was all before my time and I'm a bit green when it comes to this stuff.

Thanks in advance, Chad

Chad I think it is time you contact your dealer and see if they can help you get a up to date post configured for that machine. X4 and posts is something I will keep my mouth shut about. You might look to MPMaster post that is a free post from them web site, or look to the generic post and then ask for some help modifying it to your needs.

Welcome to the forum. cheers.gifcheers.gif

Also it looks like your update took out the force for the Y axis on the arcs and to test this take the Y move from above in your code and place it in the Arc move and see if the machine will run it.

SCC1, you were right I did miss a step, in the final process using the updatepost.dll I was still selecting the X2 version of my post. Once I selected the newly updated X4 version all is well.

I figured it was something simple, just sometimes I need a little help.

Thanks again. Chad
