GROB Machines (G350)

It's cheap because the structure is made of welded steel sheets. The noise and the accuracy might be an issue.

These machines are being produced here in Brazil as well and looks like that the buyers are not being informed properly about the collateral damages of welded structures (loss of stability, stiffness, noise, accuracy)

Ten years ago Wotan sold a bunch of 3 axis machines here with their structures made of welded sheets and if you ask today for those buyers if they would do it again, the answer is NOPE. Then they learned that they will save some significative bucks in a first moment, but their employees will hate the machine due to its noise (A aggressive roughing it is almost impossible)...

I learned that with 3 axis machines... and today as a 5 axis programmer and being aware of all issues that raises regarding machine accuracy in five axis, I would never recommend the purchasing of such machines... because if they suck for 3 axis, I wonder about how this would be in 5 axis...

I have a friend that it is working at Grob now and he told me that the service sucks and when the accuracy problems arises, the technicians start are compensating the structure deformations parametrizing the controls, because since the G350 are made of welded steel, they don't have to many options to fix the geometry problems in the structure...
