  1. Thanks for this!! I was pulling my hair out trying to get tooltotal to work right!!!
  2. The latest beta should fix the tool holder issue. Under work piece, position, set to translate xyz. Depending on where your fixture is in relation to the machine you'll need to adjust. If this is set to automatic then it will just "fit" it into the machine. I program trunnion to rotary center so i make sure my workholding is positioned relative to rotary center and the translation values are all zeros. There's not much documentation. I have lot's of experience so just ask away. -Josh
  3. One thing is the ability to use the full range of travel without switching out plates. Chick is designed primarily as a machine your softjaw vise. The Toolex starts off as a jaw vice and then expands to fit any need. With the toolex you can machine a step down section in your softjaws so then locate in the x axis and repeat between setups. I'm speaking of the double station. I have no real need for a single.
  4. They have many features and capabilities that Chick vises don't. Way more flexible. I've used both.
  5. The Toolex dual lock is the best vise by far IMHO. I've looked into the Orange Vises. Looks like great stuff. I like the jaw interchangeability.
  6. In mplmaster- Deleted this (* dia_mult) ppolar_fcyc #Output values for face, polar conversion cycle xabs = (xa + dia_shift) * dia_mult <------ Changed this to "0": g112address : 0 #0 = Y, 1 = C
  7. That's what I started with. No good. I think I'll just use my handy mplmaster post as a base.
  8. Gent's, As I'm sure your aware. The Haas Lathe with live tooling posts do't work at all. I need to modify one for a ST10-Y. The problem I'm having is the post uses Diameter for X while milling. I also need to change the G112 cycle so it outputs "Y" instead of "C". Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, -Josh
  9. The wear is much more predictable. The inserts don't fail in a catastrophic manner. I ran one of the Ingersoll tools against a Mitsubishi AJX in Ti with an interrupted cut and saw 3 times the life.
  10. This tool is a straight up brute. No other tool compares for hard metal cutting imho. http://ecat.ingersoll-imc.com/ecat/ProductSeriesDetails.aspx?ID=298145
  11. Looks like CNC is finishing development for the Eurotech B465S-Y2 in MT! -Josh
  12. I love me some Index lathes!!! Too bad most can't afford them. Pricey! The Eurotech competes with the Mori/DMG, Nakamura machines but is the only one with the extra axis on the sub... I seen a time study against a three turret Nak and a two turret Eurotech. The Nak was 4min and the Eurotech was 3min. It's all in the ladder and the clear shift sub. The ladders on the Eurotech are a thing of beauty. I'm not saying this just as a distributor. I was sold when I seen the rapido in action at the grand opening of the Selway facility in Union City and I was looking as a customer...
  13. Not trying to pimp our products but I seen this machine as a "customer" and was sold. I'm even more excited to get to be involved directly! Check out this video at the 50sec mark you can see how with the "clear shift sub" they bore on the main and tap with the sub at the same time! Crazy! Just thought I would share. These are amazing machines. -Josh
  14. Book was TOTALLY wrong. Wouldn't have worked in a million years. Here's what worked: N6(Sequence #6.) (DRILL 15DEG HOLE) (DRILL IS GUHRING 5510 7.4MM) M69 M46 T1111 G98G17 M45 G28H0. G54 G0C0. 15. I'm stumped. Only way to use the angled heads in memory mode is to clear the G68.1 by typing the following in MDI: T0; G69.1; G28 U0.; G28W0.; The turning works great. So here's what happens. Clear via MDI. Run the program through doing the turning, gets to the drill and it's in the wrong spot. Clear again through MDI and it drills at 15deg, toolchange and taps at a 15deg and then finishes turning. If you jump back up and try to drill it's in the wrong spot. If you try and start over it runs till the drill and then drills in the wrong spot. Bottom line is if you do any turning you have to clear via MDI to drill and tap at 15deg. Stupid xxxx control. Why does it have to be so difficult? I thought my VariAxis500 was a diva....
  16. Its different for a "non b-axis" machine. I got it to work but its being strange. I can drill and then tap at 15deg. Cancel everything. Do some face live milling without g68.1. If I stop and go back up to the drilling at 15deg it misses the part and over travels.... MDI T0 G69.1 and it runs fine.. Apps guy has no idea...
  17. I think I got it. Trying to be smart and Fanuc said NO! It feels like I'm fighting a Mazatrol control today....
  18. Gents, I'm getting killed on a Mori NZX200/800-SY. I'm trying to use 15deg angled heads to drill/tap. Nothing I do seems to be working and even worse nothing I see the machine do makes sense. Everything I do either puts the tool in the wrong place or over travels. The Fanuc manual is not very helpful... Any tricks I should know about? N7(Sequence #7.) (TAP 15DEG HOLE) (TAP IS GUHRING 3939 M8X1.25) M69 M45 G00G54G98G17 G28H0. G0C0. M68 T0 G68.1X0.Y0.Z0.I0.J1.0K0.R75. T0909 M8 G0X1.0508Z3. X1.0508Z1. M329 S500 G84.1X1.0508R-.225Z.10F24.6M68 C90. 19. Thanks guys. Its "appx" 18k to rebuild the live tooling drivetrain. Josh-
  20. Gents, We have an old Mori SL25MC/500 and the live tooling drivetrain is all worn out. We got quoted over 18K to rebuild. My question is: Does anyone retrofit turrets? Is it very expensive? Worth the time/energy? I found this company: http://www.hhrobertsmachinery.com/Accessories/Lio_Shing/Lio_shing_lathe_turrets.html Not much turns up on the google machine..... Would hate to scrap this machine. It's super solid. Thanks, -Josh
  21. I might pick one good machine, inventory parts and scrap the other two, shrink cell down to 6-12 pallets.
