How do you define Insert Drills In lathe?

Or mill for that matter though I don't use insert drills in our mill. I have a 3/4" Sandvik 880 Insert drill (180 deg drill point) I want use in Lathe and I'm not sure how to set it up in the tool lib.

Another option is create as a drill with a point angle of say 179 deg.

If you always drill on center with them, customizing a drill op works good. If you use inserted drills and drill above center or rough with them, I customize and treat the tool like a boring bar. The drill ops don't allow you to rough.

FYI you can define a drill as a boring bar without having to create a special drill operation. Take the inserted drill and define it as a special tool. The drill and the special tool can have the same number, but I would recommend using 2 offsets. Now when you go to post it Mastercam will ask you do you want to post and tool change and just say no and you will get a drilling cycle and a boring cycle that will allow you to backplot and verify the drill on the screen without any problems and you know what you are getting verse a fake out that could crash the machine.
