If you always drill on center with them, customizing a drill op works good. If you use inserted drills and drill above center or rough with them, I customize and treat the tool like a boring bar. The drill ops don't allow you to rough.

Thanks. There's a bit of a learning curve from 9 to X4. We purchase all the X versions with maintenance and have not used it. It is now or never and I'm finally making the switch. I have a little more time now to learn it than I did back then. It does have many great features. (and a few issues with lathe)

I'm going from V9 to X4. In lathe version 9 on the tool parameters page, I right click on a tool and hit draw tool. I can then FILE SAVE or LEVEL SAVE. This was an easy way for custom tool editing. I can't seem to find where to do this in X4. After hitting draw tool in X4, can I save the geometry? Thank you. (long time listener here, 1st time caller)
