Parametric spline vs. NURBS.

What differences exist between these two? More importantly, what sort of factors should be considered when deciding which to use?

There are several articles on this. Its quite involved but Nurbs will be smoother . New machines will read a nurbs call out in a nc file ( as described in the above referance ) and produce a very smooth surface at high feed rates.

Mastercam does not output nurbs in the nc file yet but this may change as more machines use this info. time will tell
