Changing fixtures and reposting program.

We've been running some parts on regular vise jaws, when we recently decided to use a different set of vise jaws to help prevent pulling the part out. The new jaws move the part over in the x direction around .500" and up in the z direction around .300".

How can I change this in mastercam and repost without having to reprogram everything? This can't be done with fixture offsets alone as there are 4 axis tool paths. Using X3 MU1.

Thanks

Jon

That would depend on how the program is setup. If you use part zero then all you'll need to do is move your part/geometry and your plane origin locations. If you use the rotary zero and your programming incremental then just moving the part/geometry will do it. If you use the rotary zero and your programming absolute then you're going to have to move the part/geometry and shift your "Z's".

If you guys are doing lots of simultaneous 4 axis stuff, the dynamic comp option would pay for itself very quickly. (Makino might call it something else, like tool center point control, or something similar. I'm quite certain the option is available if you don't already have it).

You'd just enter in X.500, Z.300 into the dynamic comp register, and Bob's your uncle.
