Is there a setting that be changed to unlimit the A axis range?

going up to 9999.99 degrees sometimes isn't enough

What machine are speaking about?

 

There are certain machines you do NOT want to be changing this on.

 

Some maybe incapable because of the rotary design itself.

 

Others may be artificially limited because of clearance and cabling issues.

It's a Haas machine SAIPEM.

 

I talked to the apps guy at Haas and he said the limit is set at 200000.00 degrees. Even though it is a rotary head and technically could be endless, the control has to see it as a linear axis and that is why a range limit is set on it. He also said they are looking into making changes on this because he has been recieving more and more calls on this matter.

Yes, call your Haas guy for the details, but it is

ROT ALM LMSW 1( 1=ON, 0 = OFF)

ROT TRVL LIM 1

A max travel steps(DEFAULT IS 400,000)

 

This is for an HRT 210 on our 4 axis VF4, I expect 5 axis rotaries, and perhaps newer Haas's could have different settings.
