Hi,

I would like to know if anyone would happen to know why i am recieving this message?

"Problems with custom tool file or data"

I created a custom slot mill in undefined tools. This is basically a slot mill with a 20 deg angle on it.

If anyone can take a look at my file - i would really appreciate it.

Make sure they are all at the same z plane. Make sure the center of the tool is at the origin. I always tell people take one of the tools from the mill/tools folder and adjust it to suit the needs of what you are looking to do. Now some people have luck using no center line, but I have always used one. Also there is this great resource called help that does a good job of explaining a lot of these things.

Thanks for the information. The tip on using and modifying an existing tool worked out great!

I had this same problem in X5 as well. I drew up a 60 degree back chamfer tool.

When I removed the centerline the error message went away and tool was properly displayed in the back plot.

I have attached a copy of the file.

I do have anothe question though.

In the backplot session when I click on the camera icon to take a snap shot of the tool and try to analyze the diameter of the tool all of the entities are line segments making it impossible to analyze the diameter of the tool.

Is there a way to convert these line segments to arcs?
